Nagaland: NSLSA legal services stall benefits over 1,000 visitors at Hornbill Festival

DIMAPUR

The Legal Services Stall set up by the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) at Naga Heritage Village during the 26th Hornbill Festival concluded on December 10.
According to the NSLSA, member secretary, Neiko Akami, more than 1000 beneficiaries came and availed free legal services at the stall, totalling to 1094 beneficiaries including local visitors, domestic tourists.
The beneficiaries also collected legal pamphlets of different topics including new laws in English & Nagamese and local dialects.
Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court and patron-in-chief of NSLSA, Justice Ashutosh Kumar, visited the stall on December 2, accompanied by other Gauhati High Court judges & officials.The stall was assisted by panel lawyers, para legal volunteers, and NSLSA staff, while seven interns from St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama, under graduate political science and history department also contributed by distributing pamphlets and advocating free legal services.The initiative successfully spread awareness of free legal aid, with referrals made to respective District Legal Services Authorities and the State Legal Services Authority.
