Music Department of Lotha Baptist Church Dimapur (LBCD) organised a Christmas Hymns and Carols service Sunday at the church premises, bringing together various departments, sectors and guest choirs under the theme “The Greatest Gift.”
The programme began with an opening prayer by Elizabeth Ovung, followed by the anthem “The Greatest Gift.” The Youth Department of LBCD led the hymns and carols, presenting a rich and diverse musical worship experience.
Special presentations were made by different sectors of the church, including “Born That We Might Have Life” by the Central Sector, “A New Noel” by the KLOK Sector, “Run, Shepherd’s Run!” by the Rilan/Mon Sector, and “Let the Whole World Sing!” by the Kuda Sector. The congregation also joined in singing “Joy to the World.”
Delivering the sermon on the theme “The Greatest Gift,” pastor Zuchonthung Ovung of Kohima Lotha Baptist Church (KLBC) drew his message from John 3:16. He reminded the congregation that Jesus Christ is the greatest gift given by God to humanity and questioned how far believers truly value this gift in their daily lives. He emphasized that if believers genuinely value God’s gift, their lives should reflect His goodness through praise, obedience and righteous living.
Highlighting love, sacrifice, obedience and hope, pastor Ovung noted that obedience to God is greater than any offering. He stressed that eternal life in Christ is the greatest hope for humanity, especially in a world where everything else fades.
Concluding his message, he urged believers to make Christmas meaningful by sharing love, sacrificing personal comfort and becoming a source of hope to others, thereby reflecting Christ’s unconditional love.
Further presentations included “Bethlehem’s Star” by the Duncan/Court Sector, “We Three Kings” by the Burma Camp Sector, and “Manger Throne” by the Kohima Lotha Baptist Church Music Department, who participated as guest choir. The Symphony of Worship was offered as praise, followed by the offertory prayer by Longshithung Patton. The English service featured the hymn “Go! Tell It on the Mountain.”
The closing segment included “Ain’t Dat Good News” by the Sanctuary Choir and “Festival of Christmas” by the Combined Choir. Benediction was pronounced by Rev. Thenjamo Tsanglao.
The programme also featured a drama presentation by the LBCD CNY Department, while the church décor was arranged by LBCD Meritok Okho, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
The service concluded with a message encouraging the congregation to make Christmas meaningful by living out the reality of “The Greatest Gift”—Jesus Christ.
