Nagaland: Govt changes name of ‘Para Medical Training Institute’

DIMAPUR, DEC 16 (NPN)

State health and family welfare (H&FW) department has notified that the name “Para Medical Training Institute” has been officially changed to “Nagaland Institute of Allied & Healthcare, Kohima.”
The department informed that the name change was in pursuance to the administrative approval of the government and following the directive of the National Commission for Allied and Health Care Profession (NCAHP) Act 2021 under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare regarding the discontinuation of the Term ‘Paramedical’.
The department has stated the directives were being issued for immediate compliance by all departments and stakeholders concerned. Henceforth, the department stated that the institute would be officially known and referred to only as “Nagaland Institute of Allied & Healthcare, Kohima” in all official records, deeds, writing, proceedings and transactions both Private and public.
It stated that the use of term ‘Paramedical’ was strictly prohibited in all forms of usage, verbal, written or electronic.
All existing reference to the “Para Medical Training Institute” in departmental records and further correspondence must be updated to reflect the new official name “Nagaland Institute of Allied & Healthcare, Kohima”, the department stated.
