Minister of PHED and Cooperation, Government of Nagaland, Jacob Zhimomi graced the golden jubilee celebration of the Niuland Tokukujo Kükami Kuqhakulu, also known as the Niuland Area GBs Association (NAGBsA), held on December 16 at the Niuland Town Ground. The programme was organised under the theme, “But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high” (Psalm 3:3).
During the programme, the minister unveiled a monolith dedicated by Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (WSBAK) executive secretary, Rev. Dr. Phuguto Sema.
Addressing the gathering, Jacob made a clarion call to the GBs of Niuland to lead by example and not remain indifferent to public concerns. He lamented that many GBs had become overly inclined towards luxury and comfort at the cost of their responsibilities, and reminded them of their bounden and sacred duty towards public welfare. Calling upon them to shed the superiority complex that has come to define many GBs over time, the minister challenged them to live up to the legacy of the pioneers.
Highlighting that Niuland district is poised to emerge as a bustling district in the near future with all-round development already underway, Jacob urged the GBs to renew their commitment to serving as an effective bridge between the government and the public. As the association steps into its 51st year, he expressed confidence that Almighty God would continue to lead and guide them.
A message was delivered by WSBAK executive secretary Rev. Dr. Phuguto Sema. On the occasion, the jubilee souvenir was dedicated by Kuhuxo Baptist Church pastor Akheto Chophi and released by Niuland Town councillor and president of NDGBA, Isawoto Zhimomi.
The invocation prayer was offered by Niuland Town Baptist Church (NTBC) pastor Kughavi Zhimo, while the welcome address was delivered by NTKK chairman Katoho Holo.
