Nagaland: Laza Iyinu Youth Association annual sports meet underway in Lazami

DIMAPUR, DEC 18 (NPN)

The Laza Iyinu Youth Association Lazami (LIYAL) officially inaugurated its annual sports meet on December 18, at Lazami village. The three-day event will continue until December 20, bringing together youth and community members in celebration of sports, culture and academic excellence.
Chief guest, manager ADM, LIC of India Zonal Training Centre, Kolkata, Guwahati, Danis Achumi, delivered the keynote address, encouraging entrepreneurship and urging youth to avail state-sponsored schemes such as Start-Up India. He emphasized the importance of skill development training and the dignity of labour, reminding the congregation to uphold respect for all professions equally—from sweepers and plumbers to officers. He further stressed the need to preserve cultural heritage and suggested organizing programmes where children and youth can learn traditional crafts such as weaving and basket-making.
The programme commenced with the hoisting of the flag by the chief guest, followed by the Lazami anthem led by the congregation. Catechist of St. Paul Church, Pughoboto, Sheito Lohe, graced the occasion, while LIYAL president Shikuto Sumi delivered the presidential address. In his speech, he felicitated academic toppers, successful NPSC/NSSB candidates and sponsors of the session.
The inaugural function also featured a special number by Atoto Swu, and short speeches by GB, Tovishe Kasho and LSU president, Tokugha Futhena.
The congregation collectively took an oath to uphold dignity in all forms of work. The programme concluded with a common prayer. The event was co-hosted by Aloka Kasho and Phitoshe Swu.
