The Nagaland Athletics Association (NAA) conducted the Nagaland Cross Country Championships 2025 on December 18 at Ruovi’s The Palm, Model Village 5th Mile, Chümoukedima, with Ruovi’s The Palm as the venue partner.
The championship featured multiple categories including Senior Men and Women, Under-20 (Men and Women), Under-18 (Men and Women), and Under-16 (Boys and Girls), providing athletes from across Nagaland a competitive platform to showcase endurance, discipline and sporting spirit.
The Junior events were flagged off by vice president of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), chairman of IDAN, and advisor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Abu Metha, along with treasurer of the Nagaland Athletics Association, Neingulie Nakhro. The Senior category events were flagged off by proprietor of Ruovi’s The Palm, senior vice president of the Naga People’s Front, Charlie Sekhose, who is also the chairman of Model Village, Chümoukedima.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by distinguished dignitaries including Abu Metha, Charlie Sekhose, Ihoto K. Shohe, Councillor of Dimapur Municipal Council, and Shambhudas Bandopadhyay, observer from the Athletics Federation of India and World Athletics Silver Level Referee, adding prestige to the occasion.
The championship was organized with the objective of identifying promising athletes and selecting potential runners for the forthcoming 60th National Cross Country Championships 2025.
