Politics involves sacrifice and responsibility: Humtsoe

DIMAPUR

MLA of 38 Wokha A/C, Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe, has called upon party workers to remain selfless, sincere and dedicated, reminding them that politics involves sacrifice and responsibility. He said holding a political position is akin to being a social worker committed to the welfare and progress of the people.
Humtsoe was speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of Naga People’s Front (NPF) 38 Wokha Assembly Constituency held at VDB’s Hall, Wokha Town on December 18.
Describing politics as a missionary role for societal development, Humtsoe said it provides opportunities to empower youth across various sectors. He urged party members to stand for truth and work for the welfare of the people rather than personal gain.
Reflecting on his political journey—from being elected on an NCP ticket, merging with NDPP and now with NPF—Humtsoe described the process as a refinement that strengthens the social, economic and political fabric of the state. He encouraged party workers to remain united under one voice, agenda and vision, and highlighted NPF as the second oldest regional political party in the country. He also stressed inclusivity and progress without divisions, while extending advance Christmas and New Year greetings for 2026.
Earlier, the oath was administered by L. Meribemo Kinghen, president of NPF Wokha division. In his address, Kinghen highlighted NPF as the oldest regional party in the Northeast and the second oldest in India, stating that the party enjoys a strong reputation. He said every member, irrespective of seniority, carries responsibility once they join the party.
Explaining the party’s structure, Kinghen noted that NPF functions from the grassroots level, with booth-level workers forming its foundation. He urged party workers to focus on strengthening enrolment at the grassroots. Kinghen also informed that oath-taking ceremonies have been conducted in all four Assembly Constituencies of Wokha district and directed members who have not yet taken the oath to do so by January 15, 2026. He further instructed AC presidents to appoint village-level party workers through proper coordination.
The programme was chaired by Yanchi K. Khuvung, president of the women’s wing, NPF Wokha division. Invocation was offered by Thungchibemo Murry, advisor, NPF Wokha division. The welcome address was delivered by Renthunglo Murry, working president of the women’s wing, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Mharomo V. Murry, working president of the youth wing, NPF Wokha division.
