DIMAPUR

A delegation of office bearers and executives from the Ex-Servicemen League, Nagaland (ESMLN), led by president Maj. Vikuto Asumi (Retd), held a cordial meeting with Lt. Gen. Amarjeet Singh Bedi, chairman of the Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG), at Kohima on December 19, 2025.
The dialogue focused on pressing concerns of Ex-Servicemen (ESM) entrepreneurs, particularly the burden of multiple taxation imposed by various insurgent groups. Other vital issues affecting the welfare of veterans in Nagaland were also discussed.
Representing nearly 5,000 registered members across all districts, ESMLN highlighted how retired personnel, fresh from years of selfless national service, aspire to build sustainable livelihoods for their families and aging parents through entrepreneurship. Lt. Gen. Bedi listened attentively and shared his perspective on possible ways to address these challenges.
The League expressed gratitude to Lt. Gen. Bedi for his proactive role as a trusted bridge between the Central Government, state administration, and insurgent groups. His commitment, they said, inspires confidence that ESM entrepreneurs can thrive in a peaceful environment, fostering harmony among Naga brothers.
ESMLN also underscored the importance of robust reservation policies to empower job-seeking veterans, enabling them to lead dignified lives post-service.
Conveying appreciation for the Chairman’s warm hospitality and positive response, the League stated that the meeting has invigorated its efforts to strengthen partnerships and reaffirmed its dedication to peaceful coexistence.
