Nagaland Basketball Association announces teams for Sr National C’ship

DIMAPUR, DEC 22 (NPN)

The Nagaland Basketball Association (NBA) has announced the selection of the state’s men’s and women’s teams for the upcoming 75th Senior National Basketball Championship, scheduled to be held in Chennai from January 4 to 11, 2026. The prestigious tournament will feature top basketball talent from across the country.
The teams were finalized following rigorous selection trials conducted on December 8 at Don Bosco Basketball Court, Kohima. A panel of selectors comprising coaches and officials oversaw the process to identify the most promising players to represent Nagaland at the nationals.
The selected men’s team is led by Thejangulie Mekro as captain, with Salew Kadete serving as vice-captain. The full squad includes: Neisezo Theunuo, Benhilo Lorin, Cuwe Mero, Keneizelhou Kevin Tale, Nukshizulu Pongen, Alirenba Aier L, Sharman Lama, Reo Mero, Kezevituo Suokhrie and Shanchothung Jungio.
The team will be coached by Seyievizo Kire, with Neichutuo Rutsa as manager.
The selected players will undergo intensive training and preparation in Kohima under the supervision of the coach and NBA officials. The contingent is scheduled to depart for Chennai on December 30, 2025.
The NBA extended its congratulations to all selected players and expressed gratitude to the principal of Don Bosco, Kohima, for supporting the trials. The association also commended the dedication and passion of all participants who took part in the selection process.
