ESI Scheme extended across Nagaland districts

Dimapur, Dec 27 (NPN)

Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, Regional Office, Guwahti NE Region, vide Gazette of India notifications dated March 25, 2008, December 7, 2018 and August 29, 2019, has informed that Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Scheme has been implemented in the District Headquarters/Municipal areas of Dimapur, Mokokchung and Kohima with effect from March 1, 2008, December 1, 2018 and September 1, 2019 respectively.
Vide Gazette of India notification No. CG-DL-E-15042025-262455 dated April 15, 2025 and No. CG-DL-E-18102025-267025 dated October 17, 2025, the ESI Scheme has been implemented in the entire districts/areas of Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung, Chumukedima, Niuland, Tseminyu, Wokha and Zunheboto with effect from May 1 2025.
Further, the scheme has been extended to Tuensang, Mon, Phek, Kiphire, Peren, Longleng, Shamator, Noklak and Meluri with effect from November 1, 2025.
This expansion marks a significant milestone in labour welfare, ensuring wider social security coverage for employees across Nagaland.
