The Diezephe Youth Organization (DYO) inaugurated the 40th Khel Tournament 2025 on December 27, marking a major sporting event for the local youth. The multi-day tournament will continue until December 31.
The inaugural programme was graced by special guest Er. S. Kihole, Mechanical Engineer (PWD), who delivered an inspiring address to the young athletes. She emphasized the importance of discipline and a healthy lifestyle, encouraging players to rise early, remain physically active, and abstain from intoxicating substances. Highlighting the adverse impact of excessive mobile gaming and browsing, she urged youth to prioritize fitness, health and sports.
Er. Kihole also called upon young people to support their parents in daily responsibilities while maintaining physical well-being. She motivated aspiring athletes to enroll in sports classes and professional training to sharpen their skills. Addressing parents, she appealed for greater encouragement and support for children pursuing careers in athletics, stressing the need to nurture talent rather than discourage it.
The 40th Khel Tournament 2025 features a wide range of sporting disciplines, promoting inclusivity and competitive spirit among participants. Events include football (men), volleyball (men and women), athletics (100 metres race, relay race, javelin throw, shot put), arm wrestling (indoor, men and women), and badminton (indoor, men and women). The tournament aims to foster sportsmanship, physical fitness and unity among the youth while providing a platform for emerging sporting talent from the region.
