India, not only castest, xenophobic, majoritarian, but also racist

Across the country especially during the recent Christmas festive season, Christians were targeted by far-right Hindu outfits and goons by ways of vandalising the churches, forcing to utter jai sri ram. The actions of the self-styled goons had created fear and insecurity amongst the Christian communities right across the country. In the midst of all these disturbances, PM Modi participated in the Christmas Service. What does it mean? What message did he pass on to the minorities? Dear PM please ‘walk the talk’ and ‘we know your gimmick’.
The far-right ultra-fanatic groups have taken law into their hands and they cannot be contained because they are confident that the ruling governments both in the states and at the centre would protect them. PM Modi should know that these gestures and appeasements would not help because you are for Hindu Rashtra and a Sevak of RSS.
As expected and predicted, PM Modi’s and V D Savarkar writings have been introduced as part of English Syllabus at Gujarat’s Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) in a new BA (English) minor course launched under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The Department of English at the MSU’s Faculty of Arts has added “Jytipunj” by Modi and “Inside the Enemy Camp” by Savarkar to the newly introduced course titled “Analysing and Understanding Non-Fictional Writings on Bharat”. The course has been implemented from the current academic year (2025-2026). “Jyoti Punj” will be studied as a biographical text, while “Inside the enemy Camp” will be analysed as an autobiographical work, with a focus on narrative structure, historical context, and ideological themes.
Along these in the syllabus Sri Aurobindo, Deenadayaal Upadhyay, and Vivekananda select texts and episode of PM Modi’s radio address “Mann Ki Baat” would figure. This is how under the garb of culture, history, fiction, and others be indoctrinated. BJP and RSS are clear as they have infiltrated into the educational institutions, especially university syllabi indoctrinating the fanatic Hinduism into the minds of the present and future generations.
“This syllabus represents a deliberate academic intervention to align English studies with India’s national priorities …” said professor Hitesh D. Raviya, head of the Department of English and Chairperson of the Board of Studies in English Language and Literature at MSU. What else can we expect from him. RSS has almost captured the higher levels of education and is totally changing the syllabi. PM Modi says all these course advances to primarily moving towards decolonisation of education. It is not decolonisation process. but saffronisation of India’s educational system. The mission of BJP-RSS is to saffronise and Bhratise.
Along with PM Modi there are other far-right leaders with equal fanaticism want to clean up their countries. American President wants every household to have the Holy Bible; PM Netanyahu would like to ethnically cleanse Isarael, and so, is involved in genocides. ISIS in Nigeria has been involved in attacking and burning the churches. Trump ordered to raze down their camps, which was immediately followed on the 25th December, 2025. PM Modi, in the meantime as part of cover-up, as if he was inclusive attended the Christmas Mass. His theatrics and dramatics people can easily make out, PM Modi.
Apart from religious intolerance, India is also witnessing another level of targeting people. Another day, another state, another horrific lynching – the third this month. The ending of 2025 has not been satisfactory as we see the creeping normalisation of ‘othering’. The citizens of this country nowadays especially for the minorities, Dalits, and Tribals have no safety and security to move around without fear. For instance, the 24-year-old from Tripura stabbed by a group of Uttarakandis in Dehradun, who was an MBA student, pursuing his studies staying there for about a year.
He did meet the racists and corroded mind-sets and thus became their victim—all in the name of hate crime. Two migrant workers lynched a 19/20-year-old Bengali in Odisha, and a 31-year-old Chhattisgarhi in Kerala, were called as ‘Bangladeshi’—a charge risking the safety of migrants anywhere in the country. African and Northeast India’s students and workers have for decades been facing racism even in Delhi and across the Northeastern states. Has state governments or government at the centre recognised racism as hate crime? The politicians and the police dismiss by saying as ‘stray incidents’, where as they are not.
We have been witnessing patterns to this racism and ‘othering’, but have failed to address or even to utter or write. Its manifestations and expressions are ferocious, dire, and brutal. It is spreading amongst the young minds especially within the students’ bodies. The West is not an exception, where Indian students are called as ‘coloured’. In the year-2025, we have seen attacked and lynching of Indian students in the Western contexts show appalling rise. Movements like MAGA and racist and far-right political outfits are responsible for such heinous activities.
The ’Othering’ of the Northeast people if not contained now, it would have serious repercussion in the years to come. The so-called ‘high-castes’, racists, Xenophobes, and misogynists have been soft-peddling on this by ‘othering’ those who fall in their categorisation. ‘Othering’ would deliberately be pushed vehemently and in calculated manner as Bengal, Assam, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu that are going to have Assembly Election in the coming years. ‘Othering’ is a systemic poison. Its spread is volatile and swift, and so, must be countered and acted upon with grit and determination. If government fails, then conscientious citizens should act.
