Nagaland: Phek Area Wrestling Association 29th meet on Jan 10

Phek Area Wrestling Association (PAWA) under the aegis of the Chakhesang Wrestling Association will be holding its 29th Senior & Under 15 meet 2026 on January 10, 2026 at Phek Town.
Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, MLA, will grace the meet as special guest while Col Iqbaljeet Singh Dhillon, Commandant, 39th Assam Rifles Phek will be the guest of honour.
The total prize money have been set at Rs. 3,65,000.
In senior category, the champion will receive a cash prize of Rs. 1.10 lakh, sponsored by Rukuyi Khamo & family.
The runner-up will be awarded with Rs. 70,000 jointly sponsored by Velhupra Rhakho, BDO Sekruzu Block and Er. Shekhoto Theluo, JE, Urban Development Office Phek.
A cash prize of Rs. 50,000 has been set for third prize, jointly sponsored by Vikholie Nienu, Inspector DEF Kohima and Puzhohu Khesoh, PA to advisors NRE & NSDMA, Nagaland.
The 4th position holder will get Rs. 40,000, jointly sponsored by Lavoto Chizo, president NPF 19th Phek A/C and Khosheta Rhakho, secretary COB NPF.
The prize for quarter finalists at Rs. 20,000 each will be sponsored by Megosier Khate, former champion NWA.
In Under 15 category, the champion will get Rs. 30,000, sponsored by SBI Phek branch while 2nd position holder will get Rs. 20,000, sponsored by Vezhosayi Vero, ABI, 6th NAP battalion attached to PHQ Kohima.
The 3rd and 4th position holders will get Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000, jointly sponsored by NSCB Ltd Phek Branch and Wetezo Lohe, entrepreneur respectively.
Vezokhoyi Tetseo, ABI 3rd NAP, Nuyi Hoshi, councillor Phek Town Council and Shekhoveyi Vese, councillor Phek Town Council will jointly sponsor T.Shirt & Cap while Sheta Lohe, SDPO (North), Kohima will sponsor track suit.
Phek Town Council (PTC) deputy chairperson Chetezo Akami will be the chief patron. Other patrons includes; Dusupa Rhakho, PA to NRE & NSDMA advisor, Er. Thselo Lasuh, JE PHED, Chipakhuyi Rhakho, PA to MLA 19th Phek AC, Er. Pohuto Nienu, JE Electrical, Er. Vezhoyi Ringa, SDO PHED, Mesulo Khalo, president FPS Phek district, Er. Yhunkolo Kath, SDO Water resource Phek, Popohu Lohe, public leader, Tepulezonu, DSO Phek and Thupuruda Nienu, public leader.
NWA former champion and Nagaland Wrestling Referee Board ex- convenor Hukhoneyi Soho will be the chief referee.
He will be assisted by Surhoneyi Soho, international wrestling referee licence (UWW) alongwith Kuzhoniecho Keyho, Verayi Tenenu, Shezopa Dzudo, Kuhi Mekrisuh, Vechizo Khamo, Sherayi Tetseo, Veta Soho and Shevota Rhakho.
The meet will be managed by Khutsokhuno Baptist Church in aid of new church building construction.
