Jakha Town Baptist Church celebrated its Golden Jubilee from January 3–4, 2026 at Jakhama Local Ground with a series of thanksgiving services and special programmes.
The jubilee speakers included Rev. Dr. Rachulie Vihienuo, executive director, Angami Baptist Church Council (ABCC); Rev. Dr. Mechiehol Savi, managing director, Baptist High; and Rev. Dr. Zotuo Kiewhuo, senior pastor, Koinonia Baptist Church (KBC).
On January 3, a monolith was unveiled to commemorate the jubilee, with Rev. Zapovil Sophie, senior pastor of Jakhama Baptist Church, ministering the act.
During the culmination service on Sunday evening, Rev. Dr. Zotuo Kiewhuo delivered a message based on “My House Shall Be Called a House of Prayer” (Luke 19:46). He reminded the congregation that God has ordained three divine institutions—Church, Marriage and Government—with the Church standing as the highest institution. Citing Matthew 16:18, he emphasized that the foundation of the Church rests on the faith and declaration that Jesus is the Son of God and the Messiah, making the Church a house of prayer where people encounter God, find hope and receive salvation.
Tracing the rise of the Church from Acts 2, he highlighted the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost and Peter’s sermon that brought thousands to faith, underscoring the power of prayer, witness and the Spirit in building the body of Christ.
Rev. Dr. Kiewhuo further reflected on the transformation of Naga society through the gospel brought by American missionaries 150 years ago. He said Nagas, once headhunters living in darkness, were changed not by government or religion but by the gospel of grace and truth. “Now we have become soul hunters for Jesus Christ as legitimate sons and daughters of God,” he stated.
He exhorted Jakha Town Baptist Church to grow as a praying church for all people and nations (1 Timothy 2:1–6), and to raise disciples committed to preaching the gospel to the ends of the earth.
The jubilee service featured special songs by the jubilee choir, Shieshülie Kro-u, and Dr. Watinaro Kiewhuo. A memory verse was recited by Sunday School students, while the programme was led by Meyiengonu Tetso.
