Security forces of Wednesday arrested two women active cadres of proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK)outfit for recruiting three minors after abducting them.
The police claimed that three minors abducted from Kakching Khunou in Kakching district were rescued by the security forces on January 5. During the rescue operation, the security forces apprehended two women active cadres identified as Khundrakpam Roshidiya (24) of Khangabok Khulakpam Leikai of Thoubal district and Lisham Bidya (30) of Thoubal Haokha Maning Leikai of the same district.
“The arrest of the duo follows an investigation in the abduction of three minors the previous day from Kakching Khunou Ngaikhong Leikai under Waikhong police station of Kakching district,” the police said, in its daily law and order update.
The children who were abducted to serve as recruits for PREPAK have since been rescued from Uchiwa Awang Leikai, Imphal West district and handed over to their respective parents, it added.
A white Maruti 800 (MN06- 1329) allegedly used in the kidnapping was also recovered. Efforts are on to arrest the accomplices of the arrested PREPAK cadres, the police added.
In another unrelated operation, the security forces in Senapati district nabbed a resident of Assam with 11.3 kg of opium.
The police identified the nabbed person as Nantu Deb (44) of Mahishbathan village of Assam’s Karimganj district.
He was nabbed from Nepali Khuti along NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur section) under Senapati police station on Tuesday (January 6), the police said.
Apart from 11.3 kg of opium, the security forces also seized one four-wheeler (Bolero, AS-01-DS-9963), and two mobile phones from his possession, the police added.
