Chanka Colony Women Council (CCWC), Wokha Town, celebrated its 25th Jubilee on Friday at the residence of Dr. Zubon Humtsoe under the theme “Women Who Inspire Change.” The programme underscored the vital role of women in shaping families, society and the community. Delivering the theme address, Ward 10 Councillor Thungchano Kikon highlighted that women are not only central to households but also nurture future generations with values, discipline and compassion. She maintained that strong societies are built on strong families, with mothers as the first teachers and role models. Calling women agents of positive change, she urged them to remain united, resilient and actively engaged in social development.

Extending New Year greetings and marking the Jubilee, Lotha Eloe Hoho president Thungbeni Ngullie spoke on the cultural importance of women in preserving traditions and moral values. She expressed gratitude to Dr. Humtsoe for hosting the programme in his residence, noting the absence of a community hall in the colony, and encouraged ward councillors to continue their dedicated service.

Touching on contemporary concerns, Thungbeni cautioned against the misuse of mobile phones among youth, acknowledging their benefits but warning of negative impacts on behaviour, discipline and cultural values. She called upon parents and elders to guide children towards responsible and balanced use of technology.
She further lauded the unity and teamwork of the Chanka Colony Women Council, crediting it for sustaining the organisation for 25 years, and paid tribute to former members whose vision and dedication laid the foundation for the Council.
