Nagaland University Judo Team is set to participate in the prestigious Northeast Zone Inter-University Judo Championship (Men and Women) 2025-26, scheduled to be held at Lovely Professional University (LPU), Punjab, from January 15 to 18, 2026.
A five-member squad, comprising three men and two women judokas, will represent the university under the guidance of team coach Somnath Chakraborty, National Referee and Coach at Nagaland University. Deputy Director of Sports, Nagaland University, Dr. Harish Kumar Tiwari, will accompany the contingent as team manager.
The team is slated to depart from the university headquarters in Lumami on January 11, 2026. In preparation for the championship, the athletes are currently undergoing an intensive six-day coaching camp at Lumami HQ, supervised by coach Chakraborty, aimed at ensuring peak performance during the competition.
Nagaland University has extended its best wishes to the team, expressing pride in their representation and support for their pursuit of excellence in the sport of judo.
