Nagaland: LKM resolves to promote smart farming, clean election campaign

Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM) has resolved to make smart farming a major focus to encourage and attract students and youth into the food production sector with the aim of attaining economic independence and enabling the new generation to bring positive changes in society.
The resolution, adopted during its general conference held at Mongsenyimti village on January 8 and 9 under the theme “Rekindling Legacy”, sought guidance and support from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) and Agri & Allied departments of the Government of Nagaland to help youth and students become smart farmers and agripreneurs.
LKM also resolved to identify and preserve important historical sites and events in every village of Langpangkong to develop the entire range into a tourist circuit. The body further decided to continue observing World Environment Day in the first week of June annually by cleaning ancestral wells and rivers in all villages.
Another resolution was to develop and manage a “Study Space” in every village and town under its jurisdiction for students and job aspirants, to be implemented collectively with churches and local authorities. The conference also resolved to organise a pre-Teachers’ Day programme in the first week of September every year to honour teachers and share ideas on education.
Reiterating its commitment to the Clean Election campaign, LKM pledged to continue efforts in Langpangkong range to bring electoral reformation by discouraging muscle and money power and encouraging fair and free participation of citizens under the principle “My Vote My Right.”
On the concluding day, a symposium was held on “Economic Independence and Leveraging Technology and AI for a Smarter Future” with K. Temjen Jamir, Editor and Publisher of Tir Yimyim, and Er. Lanuwabang, director, NIELIT, Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India, as resource persons.
Special invitee A. Pangjung Jamir, Advisor for Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, exhorted students to become productive citizens. Greetings were delivered by Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) president Lanutoshi Aier, Japukong Students’ Conference (JKM) president A. Mangyang, and Tzürangkong Students’ Conference (TKM) president Pangertoba.
In the final session, Ao Senden president Marsanen and Langpangkong Tzükong Mungdang (LTM) president N. Watitoshi exhorted the gathering.
