St. Mary’s Church, Diezephe Village, celebrated the 25th anniversary of the dedicated service of Catechist Yovoyi Victor Nienu on January 11. A solemn Eucharistic celebration was held at St. Mary’s Church, presided over by the main celebrant, Rev. Dr. Fr. George Rino.
The Jubilee Mass was marked by prayers, thanksgiving and reflections highlighting the vital role of catechists as faithful co-workers in the vineyard of the Lord. In his homily, Rev. Dr. Fr. George Rino acknowledged the invaluable contribution of catechists in nurturing faith at the grassroots level and commended Catechist Yovoyi Victor Nienu for his perseverance, humility and faithful partnership with the Church community over the years.
To mark the Jubilee Year, the church organised a fellowship feast as a gesture of appreciation and thanksgiving for the catechist’s long and dedicated service. The celebration was further enriched by the presence of faithful from neighbouring churches, who joined the local community in honouring the catechist and participating in the Eucharistic celebration.
St. Mary’s Church, a small yet vibrant Christian community under St. Joseph Parish, Chümoukedima, comprises 17 families with more than 80 members. Despite its modest size, the community came together in unity and gratitude to honour the catechist’s steadfast commitment, faith leadership and selfless service spanning 25 years.
