The 125-year journey of Baptist Church Changki culminated on January 11 with a solemn day of worship, thanksgiving and communal fellowship, bringing to a close the church’s quasquicentennial celebrations
The morning session featured an address by advisor for Technical Education, Temjenmenba, MLA who emphasized the importance of preserving spiritual heritage while responding to present-day challenges.
He also called for reconciliation and renewed unity among villagers, noting long-standing internal differences within the community.
Executive secretary, Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM), Rev. Temsü Jamir, delivered the morning sermon centered on the theme “Kibuba tenüng uludakjang” — magnifying the Lord’s name. Ahead of the service, Rev. Jamir unveiled the jubilee monolith, commemorating the historic milestone.
The concluding evening programme adopted a reflective tone, focusing on repentance, recommitment and spiritual renewal. Pastor, Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo, Sakurepba Tzüdir, delivered the sermon, urging believers to seek God’s guidance, stay rooted in faith, and serve society with humility and compassion.
The evening also featured scripture readings, special musical items, and a candlelight service symbolizing the passing of faith and hope across generations.
Leaders and representatives from various Changki fellowships and Baptist bodies participated, highlighting the bonds of fellowship fostered by the church over 125 years.
The celebrations concluded with quiet gratitude, honoring a legacy built on faith, sacrifice and service, while looking ahead with renewed commitment for the future.
