The 70th general conference of the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) commenced on Tuesday at Chungtia village, around 15 km from Mokokchung town, with around 1,700 delegates attending the three-day event.
The conference is being held under the theme “Strengthening Horizons”. Lok Sabha MP and NPCC Nagaland president S Supongmeren Jamir graced the inaugural session as the chief guest.

In his address, Jamir spoke on the importance of humility in leadership and urged students to remain focused and God-fearing, stressing that faith should be the foundation for success. He encouraged the students to know themselves, explore their potential and face challenges with perseverance until their goals were achieved. Calling for introspection, he emphasised the need to have a clear objective in life to succeed.

Stating that the world had become highly competitive, Jamir said one should strive for the top, adding that consistent effort and sustained focus would ultimately yield results. He further urged the students to maintain a close relationship with God in all endeavours.
Earlier, on his arrival, Jamir inaugurated the conference hall by cutting the ribbon. This was followed by a drone show, which drew appreciation from the delegates gathered outside the hall. The inaugural programme formally began after the delegates entered the hall following the display.

Earlier in the programme, Chungtia Village Council chairman Assamwati Longchar delivered the welcome address and warmly received the delegates.
