67th KVSA Meet: T Khel continue medal dominance

Day 4 of the 67th Kohima Village Sports Association (KVSA) Meet 2026 witnessed high-intensity competition across multiple venues in Kohima, with athletes continuing to deliver standout performances and set new meet records.
Athletics once again took centre stage as Neiketoulie Belho established a new record in the men’s 100-metre race. In the women’s 800-metre event, all three medallists rewrote the record books, underlining the depth of competition in the category. Ruokuosanuo Sachü also set a new meet record in the high jump, while Lhouvisalie Mere and Kevise Belho broke records on their way to winning gold and silver respectively.
The T. Khel mixed 4×400-metre relay team added to the list of record-breaking performances by clocking 3:49:05 minutes to set a new meet record.
Basketball and badminton events further added to the excitement, producing closely fought contests marked by speed, endurance, and determination. The men’s basketball matches were intensely competitive, with narrow margins separating the teams in both fixtures played among the four khels, reflecting the high level of play on display.
The race for individual titles has intensified as the meet progresses. In the men’s category, Neiketoulie Belho continued his dominant run, remaining unbeaten with a total of three gold medals and one silver, along with two new meet records, placing him firmly ahead of the competition.
In the women’s category, the contest remained closely contested, particularly between sisters Rüduolhounuo Belho and Meneno Belho. Rüduolhounuo Belho secured two gold medals and one silver, while Meneno Belho claimed two gold medals, setting up a gripping battle for the individual title.
The ongoing meet has also been marked by strong family participation, adding a heartwarming dimension to the championship. Three brothers from P. Khel featured prominently in the men’s 1500-metre event, where Lhouvisalie Mere finished first and Thepfudilhou Mere secured third place, earning two medals for their khel. Kezhakhrietuo Mere also competed in the event and put in a commendable performance despite narrowly missing out on a medal. Family representation was further highlighted in badminton, where Ruovuokhrielie Pienyü and his daughter Neiserienuo Pienyü from P. Khel competed together. From L. Khel, Kevirülie Dzüvichü and his daughters, Niepusi Dzüvichü and Kesinuo, participated in table tennis events, contributing to the strong generational presence witnessed throughout the meet.
Meanwhile, the medal tally as of 6:05 pm on January 13 showed Tsütuonuomia leading the standings with 13 gold, 10 silver, and seven bronze medals for a total of 30 medals. Daphütsumia followed with five gold, four silver, and six bronze medals, totalling 15. Lhisemia secured two gold, six silver, and three bronze medals for a total of 11, while Pfuchatsumia recorded two gold, two silver, and three bronze medals, finishing with seven medals. Overall, a total of 63 medals had been awarded, comprising 22 gold, 22 silver, and 19 bronze. With more events scheduled in the coming days, the 67th KVSA Meet continues to showcase athletic excellence, competitive spirit, and community participation across generations.
