Renowned journalist and author, Monalisa Changkija, released her third volume of poems titled “This Silence” on Wednesday. The book was formally released by Pro-Chancellor, North East Christian University (NECU), Dr. Darlando Khathing.
Congratulating Changkija, Dr. Khathing described her as one of the leading women entrepreneurs in journalism, nationally recognised and widely respected. He noted that she has authored several books which have been appreciated by readers and scholars alike. He further informed that her poems are used as reference texts at the university level, with Nagaland University (NU) and NECU incorporating her works in their curriculum. Reflecting on the title, he remarked that “silence” can mean many things, observing that at times silence can be louder than noise.
Delivering the author’s note, Monalisa Changkija shared that the poems in the collection were written in the 1990s and could have been released decades ago. She acknowledged the contribution and support of many individuals who influenced her work, mentioning that all poems in the collection were equally important to her.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Bobita Rai, while Dr. Maongkala, Assistant Professor, Dimapur Government College, read out selected reviews of the book, highlighting its depth, relevance and literary significance. The event was attended by academicians, writers, students and well-wishers.
