The Chakhesang Community Diezephe (CCD) celebrated the traditional Sükrünye Festival with great fervor and cultural richness, highlighted by a spirited Wrestling Meet at Diezephe Village.
The Wrestling Meet, the day’s major attraction, was contested in two categories: Senior category (open for all) where Rukubilhü Nyekha emerged as the champion, Vesata Medeo secured second place while Hukhoneyi Sazo bagged the third place.
In the junior category (Under-15 years), Keen participation was witnessed, showcasing the enthusiasm of young wrestlers.
The event was graced by team member of the Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA), Government of Nagaland, Er. Vezota Khusoh, as the honoured guest.
The programme commenced with an invocation prayer by pastor of AGCD, Poseruh Lohe, seeking divine blessings for the gathering. Chairman of CCD, Mhaseo Dozo, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the festival’s significance as a time of thanksgiving, unity and renewal for the Chakhesang community.
The proceedings were compered by Vekhosato Dozo and Ruyivolü Nyekha, while a special act of blessing was pronounced by Yekronu Lupu, the oldest member of CCD, symbolizing respect for elders and continuity of tradition.
The cultural segment featured soulful folk songs by Nukudulü Medeo and Kese Tsory, adding vibrancy to the celebration.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by vice-president of CCD, Vezoto Chüzho, followed by a closing prayer from pastor of Chakhesang Baptist Church Diezephe, Leluthi Tsory. The day ended with the traditional Sükrünye Feast.
