ICAR–National Research Centre on Mithun, director, Dr. Girish Patil S., along with KVK–Dimapur, head, Dr. Phool Kumari, and ICAR Nagaland Centre, scientist, Dr. Harender Verma, met the union minister of state for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Bhagirath Choudhary, at Dimapur.
A press release by ICAR informed that during the meeting, the ICAR team highlighted the various initiatives and activities undertaken by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to promote agriculture and animal husbandry in the North Eastern region of India.
Key interventions aimed at enhancing farmers’ livelihoods, improving livestock productivity, and strengthening extension services were discussed.
The minister held detailed discussions on the challenges faced by farmers in Nagaland and emphasized the immense potential of natural farming practices in the state.
He appreciated the efforts of ICAR institutions in the region and stressed the need for continued scientific support and farmer-centric approaches to ensure sustainable agricultural development.
