Nagaland: Dimapur gets Amrit Bharat Express connectivity

The inaugural run of the Dibrugarh–Gomtinagar–Dibrugarh Amrit Bharat Express was flagged off from Dimapur Railway Station on Sunday as part of Indian Railways’ initiative to strengthen rail connectivity in the Northeast.
The flagging-off ceremony was held at the station premises and was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through video conferencing.
Addressing the gathering as special guest, Deputy Commissioner Dimapur Dr. Tinojongshi Chang thanked the central government on behalf of the people of Dimapur for what he described as a “wonderful gift” to the district and the state. He said the introduction of the Amrit Bharat Express would benefit travellers from all sections of society, noting that rail transport continued to be the most affordable and accessible mode of travel for the common people.
DC stated that the new train service would play a significant role in boosting the overall development of Dimapur district as well as the state. He also appealed to the public to cooperate with the railway authorities and urged all to take proper care of railway property, including station infrastructure.
The Amrit Bharat Express, conceptualised under the Prime Minister’s vision to modernise rail travel, features ergonomically designed seating, fully connected coaches, enhanced safety systems, sealed gangways, and other modern amenities. The train represents a major upgrade in non-AC long-distance passenger services, aimed at improving comfort, safety, and travel experience.
