Assam Rifles observed National Road Safety Week from January 11 to 17, 2026 at Yingshukur village in Kiphire district, reaffirming its commitment towards community welfare and public safety.
The week-long awareness campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from local youth and members of the village community. The initiative aimed at sensitising the populace on the importance of road safety and responsible behaviour while using public roads. Various activities were conducted during the week focusing on traffic discipline, safe driving practices and adherence to traffic rules to prevent accidents. The campaign culminated with an informative lecture on road safety, highlighting common causes of accidents and preventive measures.
Participants were also shown important traffic signs to help them better understand road symbols and rules. A Road Safety Pledge was administered, encouraging all to commit themselves to responsible road usage. The event further strengthened the bond between Assam Rifles and the local community, reflecting the force’s ethos of Community First and Service Before Self.
