Assam Rifles carried out a series of developmental and community engagement activities across Nagaland under Operation Sadbhavana, including infrastructure development, environmental conservation, healthcare services, and youth empowerment programmes.
Watch tower inaugurated at Chungtia Village
In Mokokchung district, Assam Rifles inaugurated a watch tower at Chungtia Village, constructed under Operation Sadbhavana 2025–26. The project addresses the long-standing need for improved surveillance and early warning capability in the remote village. The initiative, requested by the Chungtia Village Authority, is expected to enhance situational awareness, promote goodwill, and strengthen civil-military relations. The inauguration was attended by local authorities, village elders, and Assam Rifles representatives, reflecting the strong bond of trust and cooperation between the force and the community.
Tree Plantation Drive at Langnyok
As part of its environmental conservation efforts, Assam Rifles conducted a Tree Plantation Campaign at Langnyok under the theme “Ek Ped Maa ke Naam”. A total of 47 saplings were planted to improve green cover, raise awareness about sustainable practices, and reinforce the importance of preserving natural resources. The campaign highlighted the force’s commitment to ecological responsibility alongside its security duties.
Free Medical Camp at Choklangan and Wui Villages
Assam Rifles organised a free medical camp on January 17 and 18 at Wui and Choklangan villages to provide essential healthcare to remote populations. A total of 265 civilians, including men, women, and children, benefitted from health check-ups, blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, diagnosis of common ailments, and free medicines. The medical team also educated villagers on preventive healthcare, nutrition, and personal hygiene, strengthening community trust and goodwill.
Miss PPIF Beauty Pageant at Pangsau Pass International Festival
As a prelude to the Pangsau Pass International Festival (PPIF) 2026, Assam Rifles unveiled the crown of the Miss PPIF Beauty Pageant on January 18. The talent round featured 19 contestants from remote and border villages, showcasing folk and contemporary music, dance, martial arts, painting, and cultural performances. The event was attended by the Deputy Inspector General of Assam Rifles, MLA of Nampong, and other dignitaries. The programme celebrated youth empowerment and provided a platform for young women from remote communities to showcase talent and aspire for greater opportunities. The evening also featured performances by the Assam Rifles Jazz Band and K-Pop winners The Trend, adding a modern cultural dimension to the festivities.
