Western Sümi Youth Front (WSYF) has strongly condemned the abduction of Kiyeto Zhimomi (Kits), head GB of Vikuho village, allegedly carried out by NSCN/GPRN (Khango/Hokato Vusshe) on January 19, 2026.
WSYF through its media cell described the act as a “grave provocation,” a flagrant violation of ceasefire ground rules, and an intolerable assault on the collective security, dignity, and peace of the Sümi people.
The youth body stated that no cause, grievance, or justification can ever warrant force, coercion, intimidation, or abduction. It said that such actions were ethically indefensible, socially corrosive, and fundamentally anti-people.
The front asserted that the moment civilians were targeted, all claims of legitimacy or purpose stood discredited.
WSYF sought to place on record that Zhimomi has since been released following an ultimatum. However, the front asserted that the release did not mitigate the gravity of the abduction nor absolve those responsible.
The front said that Sümi community would neither normalize, justify, nor overlook such acts under any circumstances.
Further, WSYF stated that circumstances, intent, and grounds of the abduction would be thoroughly investigated to establish truth and ensure accountability. Until then, it directed all Sümi youth to remain on high alert, stay prepared, united, and ready to collectively safeguard the safety, dignity, and interests of the Sümi community.
WSYF also called upon the Cease Fire Monitoring Board (CFMB) to act decisively, impartially, and without delay to strictly enforce ceasefire ground rules in both letter and spirit.
The youth body warned any failure would severely undermine the credibility of the ceasefire mechanism and erode public confidence in the peace process.
It said that Sümi people desired peace, but peace cannot be sustained through fear, nor authority asserted through coercion. WSYF said respect must be earned through restraint and dialogue, not imposed through force.
WSYF said the responsibility to prevent further escalation rested with those who chose confrontation over wisdom and intimidation over mutual understanding.
