Nagaland: GPRN/NSCN (U)clarifies on defection

DIMAPUR

GPRN/NSCN (Unification) has issued a clarification in response to news items published on January 20 under the caption “31 National Workers from Neokpao/Alezo led NSCN (U) joined NSCN-K (Khongo-Hokato Vushe)”, which it said had caused widespread misunderstanding.
According to the MIP, a written clarification was received from National Workers of the Sumi Region authority. The letter stated that the workers were unaware of the “premeditated design” of former Kilonser-cum-RAO of the Sumi Region, Hokishe Zhimomi, who convened a meeting on January 19.
The clarification explained that after a customary photographic session, Hokishe unexpectedly proposed an en-bloc defection, which was outrightly rejected by the majority of workers except for a few close aides.
The meeting concluded without resolution or consensus. However, the photograph taken during the meeting was later misrepresented and circulated for Hokishe’s personal motives, which the workers strongly condemned.
The clarification letter was countersigned by nine Sumi Regional Workers, including Khuvito Shohe (Tatar), Vikheto Chishi (Leacy), Hokivi Chishi (Leacy), Vino Kinny (Leacy), Kihovi Achumi (Leacy), Khetoho Kinny (Leacy), Akaho Kinny (Major), Khukiho Achumi (Sergeant), and Atomu Zhimo (Sergeant).
GPRN/NSCN (U) stated that Hokishe’s actions constituted a deliberate act of deception and treachery, intended to malign his co-workers of the Sumi Region and the organisation at large. It further clarified that Hokishe, who had served five years as RAO, was recently removed from the post as part of routine organisational restructuring. His subsequent conduct, the statement said, appeared to stem from desperation.
In view of the above, the organisation cautioned counterparts against placing Hoksieh in any position of authority, citing his repeated propensity to defect to other factions.
