Nagaland: Venii Vadeo clinches title at 31st CRWA Meet 2026

DIMAPUR, JAN 21 (NPN)

Venii Vadeo from Riinguzu village emerged as the champion of the 31st Chozuba Range Wrestling Association (CRWA) Meet 2026, held on Wednesday at Chozuba Town in Phek district.
Vadeo pocketed a cash prize of Rs. 1.10 lakh sponsored by CRWA, along with an additional Rs. 5,000 contributed by Khwiithayi Khiisoh, national wrestler and former CRWA and CWA champion.
Second place Miileciyi Vadeo, also from Riinguzu, received Rs. 80,000 sponsored by entrepreneur Pothita Vamuzo. Third place Miiliisii Veswiih from Suthozu Nawe bagged Rs. 60,000, sponsored by Executive Engineer (Electrical), Dimapur Division, Er. Lhiivoyi Veswiih.
Fourth place Sasiiyi Nyekha from Suthozu Nawe won Rs. 40,000, sponsored by Sub Divisional Engineer, BSNL Phek, Er. Cekhwiilhii Nakro.
In the Under-15 category, Miitiive Dozo from Thiivopisii village clinched the champion’s title and received Rs. 30,000. Miiduto Dozo, also from Thiivopisii, secured second place with Rs. 20,000. Siirhoto Vadeo from Chozuba Town and Muyoto Nienu from Phugi village stood third and fourth, receiving Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000 respectively. The prize money for the Under-15 category was sponsored by ex-VCC of Thiivopisii, Vekuyi Dozo.
The meet was graced by Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, MLA as special guest and Director of Agriculture, Government of Nagaland, Sanuzo Nienu, as guest of honour. Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) president Vivolie Kezo, Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) president Vezohu Ruho, Phek Area Wrestling Association (PAWA) president Chikhozo Chizo, and several other dignitaries also attended the inaugural programme.
The event was hosted by Yoriiba Baptist Church and Chozubami Women Society, drawing enthusiastic participation and support from the community.
