Nagaland: Western Sümi bodies 48-hr ultimatum on NSCN (K-V)

DIMAPUR, JAN 22 (NPN)

Western Sümi frontal organisations — Western Sümi Hoho (WSH), Western Sümi Kukami Hoho (WSKH), and Western Sümi Youth Front (WSYF) — have jointly served a 48-hour ultimatum to the NSCN/GPRN (Khango-Vusshe) group in connection with the alleged abduction and assault of Ato Kukau (Village Chief) Kiyeto Zhimomi of Vikuho village, Kuhuboto, on January 19, 2026.
In a joint ultimatum released after a meeting of the three organisations, WSH president Vikato K Achumi, WSKH president Khehovi Chophy, and WSYF president Atokiho Sumi demanded the following:
1) An unconditional public apology to the Western Sümi Kukami in particular and the Sümi Community in general through print and digital media
2) Immediate surrender and arrest of all those involved in the incident to the law enforcement agencies
3) Retraction of the group’s statement claiming that WSKH, WSYF, and KGKK mediated between the parties through dialogue — a claim the three organisations described as “entirely baseless and intended to misinform the public”
4) Shifting of the ceasefire monitoring cell from Thilixu Village on grounds of violation of ceasefire ground rules
The organisations stated that the demands must be met within 48 hours.
Failure to comply within the stipulated period, the Western Sümi frontal organisations warned they would declare total non-cooperation against the NSCN/GPRN (Khango-Vusshe) group across all Western Sümi inhabited regions.

DUCCF backs ultimatum: Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) has expressed its “unwavering support” and solidarity with the Western Sümi Hoho (WSH), Western Sümi Kukami Hoho (WSKH), and Western Sümi Youth Front (WSYF) ultimatum on the NSCN/GPRN (Khango-Vusshe) group for the alleged abduction and assault of Kiyeto Zhimomi.
In a press note issued through its information and publicity secretary Kevipietsu Savino, DUCCF strongly condemned the incident, terming it a “despicable barbaric and lawless act” that attacks not only an individual but also traditional institutions, village authority, and the collective dignity of the Naga people.
The federation said such acts are “wholly unacceptable” and contradict the aspirations of Nagas for peace, reconciliation, and harmonious coexistence. At a time when society strives for unity and stability, DUCCF said force, intimidation, and brutality only bring shame and undermine efforts toward peace.
DUCCF demanded an immediate and impartial investigation, identification and accountability of all involved, and swift justice for the victim.
Affirming solidarity with Kiyeto Zhimomi, the federation called upon stakeholders to uphold peace, respect customary institutions, and refrain from actions endangering communal harmony.
