Assam Rifles undertook two significant initiatives in Nagaland, reflecting its continued commitment to community welfare and youth empowerment.
At Chieswama, a voluntary blood donation camp was organised on January 24 at the Unit Hospital in collaboration with the Blood Bank, Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK). Local residents and volunteers actively participated, with a total of 71 donors comprising civilians and Assam Rifles personnel. The medical team ensured the safety and well-being of all donors.
In another initiative under Op Sadbhavna, Assam Rifles inaugurated and handed over a newly constructed basketball court to the youth of New Tesen village, Peren district. The facility aims to promote sportsmanship, discipline and healthy lifestyles among young people, while providing a positive platform to channel energy into constructive activities. The project also seeks to counter challenges faced by remote regions, particularly the vulnerability of youth to substance abuse, by encouraging regular physical activity and team spirit.
The inauguration witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 150 people, including youths, seniors and village elders.
