As part of the 77th Republic Day celebrations, exhibition stalls set up by various government departments at Civil Secretariat Plaza, Kohima, were inaugurated by chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio.
According to a DIPR report, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services stall, which featured an exhibition-cum-sale of local eggs, dairy products, live rabbits and quails, animal feed products, and distributed educational flyers, bagged the 1st Prize in the exhibition.
Department of Industries & Commerce showcased locally manufactured products including citronella and lemongrass oils, leather goods, beadworks, and handmade crochet items. The Department of Under Developed Areas (DUDA) displayed food and agro-based products and handicrafts such as local rice varieties, millets, honey, aromatic tea, traditional bags, jewellery, books, and candles.
Department of Agriculture exhibited farm machineries suited to local conditions, post-harvest machineries, and samples of field crops including paddy, soybean, and millets. It also offered organically produced brown rice, winter vegetables, and other farm produce from Kohima district for sale.
Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM) presented its exhibition under the theme “Honey for Entrepreneur Development”, showcasing different varieties of honey, bee by-products and value-added products, while promoting beekeeping as a sustainable livelihood option.
The Nagaland Police stall created awareness on the new criminal laws—Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). Meanwhile, Kohima District Legal Services Authority displayed handbooks, pamphlets, and flyers highlighting various legal services and awareness programmes for the benefit of the public.
Other departments including Land Resources, Co-operation, Rural Development, Horticulture, Sericulture, Urban Development, Soil & Water Conservation, Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, and the Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency also showcased a wide range of state-grown organic products.
The exhibition witnessed enthusiastic public participation and served as a platform to promote local entrepreneurship while advancing the vision of a self-reliant Nagaland economy.
