The Phüsachodümi Youth Society (PYS) celebrated its 22nd Cultural Day-cum-Sühkrühnyie at Phüsachodümi village in Phek district on January 27, 2026.
The event was graced by Er. Sungti Amer, Assistant Chief Engineer, CAWD Nagaland and member of the Board of Governors, NIT Nagaland, as the special guest. Extending Sühkrühnyie greetings, Amer explained that the festival represents a fresh beginning—a reaffirmation of hope, prosperity, unity and well-being for the Chakhesang community.
Addressing the youth, Amer described them as custodians of the future and inheritors of a rich legacy. “Upon your shoulders rests the sacred responsibility of preserving our cultural heritage while leading the community towards progress and development,” he said. He emphasized that the destiny of society will be shaped by the choices youth make, the values they uphold and the actions they take.
“You are endowed with youthful energy, creativity, and the power to bring about meaningful change,” Amer stated, urging the youth to embrace education, discipline and strong moral values to emerge as responsible leaders guiding the tribe and nation towards peace, unity and prosperity. He further called upon them to use their time wisely, commit to learning and service, participate in social initiatives, promote education and awareness, volunteer selflessly and uphold the rich culture and traditions.
Phüsachodümi Village Council chairman Velapa Theluo shared greetings, while PYS president Küduveta Vero delivered the presidential address.
The celebration also featured cultural competitions including Kazhe, Mücü, Niehimozho, women’s group folk song, folk dance and men’s group folk song, showcasing the vibrancy of local traditions.
