Nagaland: SCSU holds general meeting; new team installed

DIMAPUR

Sheanghah Chingnyu Students’ Union (SCSU) held its 63rd general meeting-cum-office bearers installation programme on January 23 and 24, 2026.
Delivering the keynote address, SCSU president M. Nonggang Konyak called for unity, peace, transparency and cooperation among the community for the progress of the students’ fraternity.
Following the keynote, the induction of new officials was announced by nominating committee convener Gangjin Konyak, who congratulated the outgoing executives for their dedication and service, while extending best wishes to the incoming team led by president-elect M. Lokom Wangsa.
The programme was chaired by assembly secretary Ashah Ameshu, with invocation by the Deacon Board of Sheanghah Chingnyu Baptist Church. The Konyak Students’ Union anthem was sung by all attendees.
General secretary Longpa Konyak presented the report highlighting key activities, achievements and initiatives undertaken during the previous term, covering academics, student welfare, cultural and extracurricular engagements.
The financial report was presented by Nokpeih Konyak. The House expressed satisfaction with the resolutions and reaffirmed its commitment to effective implementation.
During the discussion hour, intellectuals, ex-officials, elders and members deliberated on issues including wildlife preservation, natural resources, sustainable environment goals, student welfare and organizational functioning. The meeting saw active participation and democratic exchange of ideas.
On January 24, a special prayer service for outgoing and newly inducted executives was held at Sheanghah Chingnyu Baptist Church, where blessings were bestowed by the pastor and church board members.
Newly inducted assistant general secretary Mankhat N. Konyak emphasized unity, team spirit and adherence to constitutional laws, cautioning against misuse of authority within the union. The session concluded with a mass prayer.
