The surveillance team monitoring the fire incident in southern Dzükou has reported back, following which a review meeting was held at the residence of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, on Friday evening to assess the evolving situation.
According to DC Kohima Henok Buchem, the main Dzükou Valley remains unaffected by the fire so far. The blaze is spreading at a slow pace and continues to be largely confined to the Dzükou helipad area.
Adding to this, the SAYO president stated that while the fire had subsided towards Mount Tempfü, the helipad area was yet to be fully contained.
Indian Air Force helicopters carried out Bambi bucket operations at the site on Friday as part of active firefighting measures. With continued aerial intervention, authorities are optimistic that the fire can be contained, and operations are scheduled to continue on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the surveillance team will remain deployed at the location to continuously monitor and assess the situation.
