CorrespondentKOHIMA, JAN 30 (NPN)

The Advenduro Northeast – Nagaland Edition X was concluded on Friday at the Secretariat, Kohima, marking the five-day endurance expedition covering approximately 1,500 km across Nagaland.
The motor rally, held from January 26 to 30, was initiated by the Nagaland Adventure Club (NAC) and Gorilla Moto, with support from the Tourism Department of Nagaland and other well-wishers. A total of eight riders participated in the expedition, traversing some of the state’s most demanding terrains.
Speaking at the closing programme, Director of Youth Resources and Sports Kethosituo Sekhose appreciated NAC for collaborating with multiple stakeholders and successfully concluding the event with all participants returning safely.
He stated that adventure sports is a discipline the department strongly believes can drive sports tourism and overall tourism growth in Nagaland and the wider Northeast, acting as a catalyst for development.
Referring to the national vision of Viksit Bharat, Sekhose said Nagaland has also articulated Viksit Nagaland 2047, with a focus on enabling athletes from the state to compete in international arenas, particularly the Asian Games and the Olympics.
He remarked that while Nagas are still at an early stage in organised sports development, sporting talent and competitiveness are inherent, and initiatives such as Advenduro can help unlock that potential. He encouraged NAC to organise more such events in the future and gradually take them to a competitive level.
Commandant of 13th Assam Rifles, Kohima, Kumar Sankhyan, also commended the organisers and participants for making the adventure and endurance initiative a success. He expressed hope that Advenduro would continue to grow and assured continued support in the years ahead.
Advenduro Northeast – Nagaland Edition X was billed as India’s first multi-day, all-terrain endurance expedition and the Northeast’s toughest adventure ride. The 1,100–1,500 km challenge followed a DIY-style navigation format with GPS-guided routes, no pre-defined tracks and mystery checkpoints, emphasising self-reliance. Riders engaged in wilderness camping, cooking, river crossings, trekking and cultural interactions with indigenous communities, while navigating mist-covered ridges, dense forests and tribal heartlands.
The organisers stated that the expedition was envisioned as a collective journey rather than an individual pursuit, aimed at building endurance, teamwork and regional pride.
They added that the initiative is expected to boost tourism, strengthen community bonds, promote cultural heritage and position Nagaland and the Northeast on the global adventure motorsports map.
