Nagaland: On-campus training on natural farming

DIMAPUR

A five-day on-campus training programme on Natural Farming for Community Resource Persons (CRPs) was conducted from January 27 to 31, 2026 in Tuensang. The programme was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Tuensang and sponsored by MANAGE, Hyderabad, and SAMATI, Nagaland.
According to a press release, the training programme aimed to strengthen the capacity of Community Resource Persons (CRPs) to promote sustainable and eco-friendly agricultural practices among farmers in Tuensang, Shamator and Noklak districts. A total of 20 CRPs participated in the programme.
During the five-day training, experts and resource persons highlighted the importance of reducing dependency on chemical inputs and adopting environmentally friendly farming methods. Key topics covered included soil health management, preparation and use of organic inputs, composting techniques, crop diversification, bee-keeping, pest and disease management through natural methods, and other sustainable farming practices.
Officials informed that the programme was part of ongoing efforts to promote natural farming and sustainable agriculture in Nagaland. They expressed confidence that the trained CRPs would play a crucial role in disseminating the knowledge gained to farmers in their respective villages.
The participants also expressed appreciation for the comprehensive training and interactive learning environment. The programme concluded with a valedictory session, during which certificates were distributed to the participants. The organizers reaffirmed their commitment to organizing similar capacity-building programmes in the future for the benefit of farming communities.
