Subject:Respectful Appeal for Accelerated Implementation of the Act East Policy
Respected Honourable Prime Minister of India, I write this appeal with deep respect for your leadership and with sincere hope for the accelerated realization of India’s Act East Policy, a vision that holds immense strategic, economic, and cultural significance for our Nation.
The Act East Policy has the potential to transform India’s engagement with Southeast and East Asia, particularly by strengthening connectivity, trade, people-to-people ties, and regional cooperation. For the North Eastern states of India, this policy is not merely a diplomatic framework but a pathway to inclusive development, employment generation, infrastructure growth, and long-overdue integration with regional and global markets.
While commendable progress has been made, the pace of implementation on the ground remains slower than the aspirations of the people who stand to benefit most. Delays in infrastructure projects, cross-border connectivity, and investment facilitation risk undermining the strategic advantages India seeks to secure in an increasingly competitive Indo-Pacific region.
An expedited and mission-driven execution of the Act East Policy — with focused attention on roads, railways, digital connectivity, border trade, education, tourism, and cultural exchange — would significantly enhance India’s economic resilience and geopolitical standing. It would also reaffirm our commitment to balanced regional development and to empower the North East as India’s gateway to Asia.
I humbly urge your esteemed office to prioritize and fast-track the implementation mechanisms of the Act East Policy through stronger inter-ministerial coordination, time-bound project execution, and active engagement with state governments and local stakeholders.
With decisive momentum, the Act East Policy can truly become a cornerstone of India’s growth story and regional leadership. the Northeast as a strategic, not peripheral, region
Deeper economic integration with ASEAN through tangible trade and investment frameworks
Clear strategic signalling that India is prepared to lead, not merely participate, in the Indo-Pacific order Your leadership has repeatedly emphasized a confident, decisive India. Expediting the Act East Policy—with sharper coordination, greater political will, and measurable outcomes—would be a powerful demonstration of that resolve.
History will judge not the intent of our policies, but the speed and seriousness of their execution. The moment calls for urgency, clarity, and action.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours sincerely,
