Following the press statement issued by the FGN Chakhesang Region and published on February 6, the NNC/FGN has issued a clarification in the interest of truth and Naga national principles.
In a press statement, Sekuto Shijoh Midan Peyu, Chakhesang Region
NNC/FGN, recalled that the establishment of the FGN was propelled by three slogans which inspired the spirit of Naga nationalism—“Tax or March”, “Ten for One” and “Our Land is Ours”.
It maintained that the earlier press statement of January 13 was never intended to espouse or justify forceful extortion. The objective, it said, was to defend the original principles of the NNC and to keep the spirit of nationalism alive among the people. Any interpretation otherwise was termed as distortion.
The statement further pointed out that Ino Kamucho Chuzho and his associates reside in a Government of India sponsored “Transit Peace Camp”, which in the eyes of many Nagas has forfeited their moral authority to speak on or defend Naga political rights.
It asserted that those in such camps are perceived as collaborating with the very system the Naga political movement has historically resisted.
It added that the very term “Transit Peace Camp” implies peace and restraint, and therefore issuing threats and warnings while residing in such camps and enjoying facilities provided by the adversary was contradictory and inappropriate. Such acts, it said, make a mockery of the purpose and name of the camp.
Reaffirming its stand, the NNC/FGN said it remains committed to the original principles of the NNC, the dignity of the Naga people and the preservation of the true spirit of nationalism.
