Nagaland University hosts FGI College educational tour

A group of 14 students from FGI, College of Agricultural Sciences Hengbung, Kangpokpi, Manipur accompanied by two teachers visited the School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University, Medziphema campus on February 6.
According to a press release, the tour aimed to provide students with hands-on experience and exposure to innovative methods and research in the agricultural sector. The educational tour included the students’ exploration to the College Library, Education Museum, and All India Coordinated Research Project on honeybees and pollinators.
The students also visited the Insect Museum in the Department of Entomology, where they taught about the diversity of pests, their orders, beneficial insects, and important insect pests of agricultural crops. A subsequent visit to the Disease Museum in the Department of Plant Pathology provided them with an insight into plant diseases.
The visit facilitated an opportunity for interactive learning, deepening the students’ understanding and appreciation for innovative methods and research in the agriculture sector and concluded with an interaction session with dean, SAS, NU, Medziphema Campus professor Pauline Alila.
The visit was coordinated by assistant professor, Department of Entomology, Dr. Waluniba and, and scientist on AICRP- Kharif Pulses, SAS, NU, Medziphema Campus Dr. Lawrence Kithan. The educational tour provided the students with a valuable learning experience, exposing them to innovative methods, research, practice, enhancing their knowledge and career prospects.
