Lotha Lower Range Students’ Union (LLRSU) has voiced serious concern over the persistent delays in the Nagaland Foothill Road Project, particularly in the Lotha Lower Range area and the broader Lotha region.
In a press release, the union described the Foothill Road as a project of vital importance that has remained largely stagnant despite repeated assurances from the concerned authorities.
LLRSU stressed that it had consistently advocated for the construction of quality roads, recognizing their critical role in improving connectivity, fostering development, and securing a better future for the people.
Asserting that it is “well aware of the genesis” of the Foothill Road project, the union reiterated its unwavering support for development initiatives that benefit not only the Lotha Lower Range area but also the entire Lotha community and Nagas in general. Recalling its statement dated February 28, 2025, LLRSU noted that it had then clearly described the Foothill Road as a long-cherished dream of the people of Bhandari Sub-Division and the Lothas at large. The union clarified that it has never aligned itself with any contractor, civil society organization (CSO), government department, MLA, or minister, but has solely advocated for the timely completion of good-quality roads to ensure a brighter future for the community.
Acknowledging challenges such as the prolonged monsoon season and certain local internal issues, LLRSU maintained that these cannot justify compromising the long-standing aspirations of the people.
It insisted that the project must be completed within the stipulated timeframe, in line with recent announcements from the concerned department.
The union warned that failure to meet the deadline could lead to unforeseen consequences that would adversely impact future generations.
LLRSU highlighted that the Lower Range area was rich in natural resources, and any further delay or failure in completing the Foothill Road would severely hamper resource exploration, regional development, and overall economic growth.
The union expressed appreciation for all civil society organizations (CSOs) that have supported the project and earnestly appealed to all leaders to issue clear and decisive statements committing to the early completion of the Nagaland Foothill Road Project in the Lotha Lower Range area.
Reaffirming its position, LLRSU stated that it would continue to stand firmly for genuine and sustainable development that benefits the entire Lotha community and the Nagas as a whole.
