Nagaland: ESIC, Labour dept organise awareness programme & health camp at Pfutsero

DIMAPUR

An awareness programme and health camp was jointly organised by Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) and the Department of Labour, Government of Nagaland, on February 6 at Pfutsero CHC, Phek district, for employers and workers in the organised sector.
The programme aimed to sensitise employers and employees about the social security benefits available under the ESI Scheme. Assistant Labour Commissioner, Zeremo Kikon, and ESIC Social Security Officer, Chuba Lemba, briefed participants on medical, cash and other benefits extended to workers and their dependent family members. Employers were also apprised of their roles and responsibilities under the scheme.
Officials informed that in newly implemented or unserved areas lacking ESIC dispensaries or medical arrangements, primary care delivery has been initiated through PHCs and CHCs of respective State Governments. In Nagaland, 12 CHCs/PHCs have been identified in the first phase to provide primary care to ESIC beneficiaries in newly covered districts.
An interactive session was held to address queries on registration and compliance, followed by a free health check-up camp led by CHC Pfutsero Medical Officer, Dr. V. Kezo.
