District Drugs Control Officer, Tuensang, carried out a cancellation drive of pharmacy licenses in Tuensang town on February 10, 2026.
According to district media coordinator Apheang, the team was led by the Drug Control Officer, Tuensang, and accompanied by a pharmacist from the CMO office, district administration, and police personnel.
As per the State Drugs Control Authority, a show-cause notice had earlier been issued against the defaulting firm. However, the firm failed to take the matter seriously and did not appoint a registered pharmacist for over four years, which is in contravention of Rule 65(2) of the Drugs & Cosmetics Rules and Section 42 of the Pharmacy Act, 1948.
In exercise of powers conferred, the team cancelled and closed down 18 firms/medical outlets.
Meanwhile, Chief Medical Officer’s office, Tuensang, acknowledged the cooperation and support of the district administration and police personnel in making the initiative possible.
