The Under-13 ASMITA Football League 2025–26 (East Zone) concluded on Tuesday with the closing and prize distribution ceremony held at Chümoukedima Football Stadium, marking the end of the league phase of the tournament.
After a round of league matches played between the five state teams of the East Zone, namely Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim, Assam and Mizoram emerged as the two teams advancing from the East Zone to the next stage of the competition.
Earlier, delivering the gathering as the special guest at the closing ceremony, Secretary, Youth Resources & Sports, Anthony Ngullie, said that the tournament marked the first ASMITA football competition to be held in Nagaland, describing it as an important milestone for the promotion of girls’ football at the grassroots level.
Highlighting the participation of five teams from the North East, he said the young players displayed remarkable talent and footballing ability at such an early age.
He further termed the ASMITA initiative as “just the beginning and a stepping stone” towards achieving better opportunities and a stronger future for women’s football in the years to come. Ngullie also noted that Chümoukedima Football Stadium is one of the most prominent venues in the state, having hosted several state-level and national-level tournaments, and expressed hope that more such events would be organised in Nagaland.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by joint secretary NFA, Imlisunep, invocation was offered by Youth Pastor, Rengma Baptist Church Sovima, Awa Lorin, while a special song was presented by Chemkiula Khiungru, and vote of thanks was proposed by vice president NFA, Meyisanger Lemtur.
