Earth has given everything for the billions of Homo sapiens to live and lead a harmonious life. It has not only given us shelter but all that requires for us exist. Apart from humans we have other creatures that are inter-dependent on each other. This inter-dependency is mutual, and so co-existence is possible and feasible. There are numerous living and non-living creatures around us contributing in various ways to make our life and living possible. And so, all existing matter and space considered as a whole the universe—cosmos.
In such a beautiful planet earth where millions of species exists having their own laws which the Homo sapiens should take into consideration. Let not Homo sapiens think that they can Lord over everything and do whatever they want.
What we have been witnessing in recent time precisely that. Trump threatens to take over Green. His tariffs roll global markets and supply chains. The big powers sometimes wage wars and annexe the territories. Other economic powers on the basis trade and other agreements enter countries with resources. Middle powers not knowing how to tide over the situation gets into all kinds of negotiations.
Geo-politics is rapidly changing with new equations and permutations. We are not in a position to predict the trend whether it is unipolar or bipolar or multipolar world we live. Now the geo politics is under serious brutal competition for territory and resources. The big powers in the name of security and protection enters into all sorts of deal to secure rare earth minerals and resources hidden under earth. Earth planet has such rare minerals and resources that are beautifully scattered right across.
Arctic or Antarctic the powerful and technologically advanced economic and political empires want to get there or if owned by countries they negotiate either by force or cash. Greenland is the classic case. Trump wants Greenland not because of Russia or China or security threats etc, but to extract rare earth minerals as they are used for the production of many.
Take for example some of the rare minerals such as Tanzanite, Benisote, Alexandrite, Uranium or Plutonium, then gas and other energy oil and so on.
The competition between the strong nations is so intense and want to get the rare earth minerals for the survival and sustenance of their economies. International rules, covenants, charters, and laws have gone. We are currently entering into a ruleless and lawless order where the powerful dictates and rule over others.
The American President in his address to the United Nations General Assembly on September, 23rd, 2025, said that climate change as “the greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world.” He further reiterated that climate science, global environmental policies, and renewable energy referring to them as a “scam”.
Making such irresponsible statements at the UN General Body by the president of the United States before the global leaders tantamount to callousness. Trump in a few statements had dismissed and minimised the findings of the researchers on climate change and its implications to the world at large.
He even went to the extent of withdrawing from climate-related bodies and so on. The world’s powerful leaders keep threatening the world that WW-3 is in the offing. If happens then it would be nuclear war. The fallout of a nuclear war will be felt by the whole planet. It would trigger global cooling and clouds will prevent the sunlight. Further, radiation would spread poison around the biosphere.
The current geopolitics prevents collaboration on climate change mitigation. More importantly maintaining large sophisticated ironware is crucial for geopolitical power projection which at the same time contributing to the climate disaster that gulps millions of barrels of hydrocarbons.
For example, Abram’s battle tank consumes two gallons of Jet fuel per mile. Fighter jets burn even more fuel. Ukraine war is also destroying the ecosphere by the Russian invasion due to emissions caused by the war-machines.
In war not just arms manufacturing corporations profiting, but also oil companies. In 2022, Exxon Mobil earned a record $55.7bn in profit. Saudi Aramco recorded a whopping profit of $161bn in the same year. Therefore, war is a big business—multi-billion dollars. If we club all these together, the world is moving towards catastrophe which is climatic where the global surface temperature rise of 2.5-degree C. The challenge is to stop thinking of the Planet Earth as playground where countries especially those advanced countries going ahead without respecting Planet Earth. Both possibility of WW-3 (nuclear) and climate rise are the obvious threats to the Plat Earth we live-in.
Planet Earth is groaning and bleeding. It communicates to us in varied ways. In stark ways our Planet Earth spews its anger because we the so-called knowledge-based responsible Homo sapiens have failed to act responsibly to protect and nurture our Planet Earth.
We seemed to have failed by not respecting the Mother Earth that offers life to billions of people for millennia. Where did we go wrong? For this question a philosopher by name Barouch Spinoza brings-in a system called as pantheism—God or Nature.
For him, the entire universe has diverse attributes and purposes revolving around its laws of Nature or God having its autonomous functions.
Nonetheless, all these attributes or expressions are thus integrated or connected to the whole—the infinite substance—God or Nature. If this is the case, why to tamper the co-existing species for our selfish interests and greed. When we look at moon or sun or mountains or trees or plants, we are seeing God or Nature. Therefore, understanding yourself is to understand Gor or Nature. Hence, harming Nature is harming God.
Since the living and non-living have the intricate and complex connections and balances, if damages caused or inflicted happens to one attribute it would automatically and naturally will show its revulsion to the whole.
Therefore, if we carefully observe Spinoza’s philosophy he cautions us not to tamper the attributes or expressions because all parts are connected and thus belongs to the whole vis-a-vis Nature or God. Therefore, revering Nature is revering God and vice versa.
