Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Mokokchung has cautioned the public concerning a recent surge in scam activities targeting Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMVY) beneficiaries in Mokokchung district.
In a press release, ICDS Mokokchung district programme officer, Imliyanger, stated that scammers, claiming to be representatives of the government or financial institutions, were approaching beneficiaries and requesting sensitive information, including Aadhaar and bank account details.
The programme officer said that scammers could ask beneficiaries to click on suspicious links or provide confidential information under the guise of “updating” their accounts or “releasing” benefits.
The programme officer also said the scammers provide accurate personal details, making it difficult for beneficiaries to identify them as fake.
Therefore, programme officer has urged all PMMVY beneficiaries and the general public to be cautious and take precautions—never share personal or financial information with unknown individuals or through unverified links and verify the authenticity of any communication from government agencies or financial institutions through official channels.
Beneficiaries have also been advised to be wary of unsolicited calls or messages claiming to be from government officials or banks and immediately report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
The programme officer informed that district administration and concerned authorities were working to prevent such incidents and protect the interests of the beneficiaries.
