Nagaland: International Hope Day observed at Assisi centre

DIMAPUR

Assisi Centre for Integrated Development (ACID), in collaboration with NDWM Child Right Movement, observed International Hope Day at Assisi Auditorium under the theme “Hope Lights the Future.” Altogether, 250 participants, including children, parents, and well-wishers, attended the programme.
Chief guest and project coordinator of Child Help Line (DCPU), Dimapur, Alomi Sumi, in his address, emphasized that hope is the light guiding individuals through life’s darkest moments and the power that transforms ordinary people into extraordinary ones.
Citing the life of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, who rose from humble beginnings as a newspaper vendor to become President of India, he described Kalam as a testament to dedication, dreams, and perseverance. He urged children to keep hope alive, remain confident, and become messengers of hope as leaders of both today and tomorrow.
Guest speaker Ao Bendang spoke on the responsible use of social media and smartphones among children. He noted that while today’s phones are “smart,” users must also act wisely. Highlighting both the advantages and disadvantages of social media, he cautioned that misuse can cause harm. Addressing the “generation gap,” he contrasted past experiences with today’s technology-driven lifestyle and encouraged children to use technology responsibly while maintaining balance in daily life.
