Nagaland: Modern Week 2026 concludes

Modern College concluded its week-long “Modern Week 2026” on February 14 at its Indoor Stadium, marking the culmination of a series of literary, cultural and sporting events held under the theme “Archaic Modern.”
The celebration commenced on February 10 with a 10-km Open Mini Marathon, which was flagged off by Second-in-Command, 78 BN CRPF Zubza, Lt. Col. Sanjeev Kumar. The marathon witnessed participation from enthusiastic runners from across the state.
The week-long programme featured Literary Day on February 10, Cultural Day on February 11, and a Sports Meet from February 12 to 14.
The Sports Meet saw active participation from students in football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, javelin and discus throw, board games and track events, fostering competitive spirit and teamwork among the participants.
During the closing ceremony, sports secretary of MCSU, Rokozetuo Kuotsu, declared the results and announced Blue House as the overall champion with 1,520 points. Red House secured the second position with 1,475 points, followed by Green House with 940 points and Yellow House with 740 points.
On Literary Day, various competitions including story writing, poetry slam, quiz contests and painting were organised, providing a platform for students to showcase their creative and intellectual abilities while promoting literary and artistic appreciation.
Cultural Day highlighted indigenous traditions through performances of folk songs and dances, war cries, traditional fire-saw making demonstrations, go-kart races and other activities, reflecting the institution’s emphasis on preserving and celebrating cultural heritage.
Assistant sports secretary, Roshan Chettri, delivered the vote of thanks and the programme concluded with the Lord’s Prayer.
